Love that I can custom my runs so easily.
Love that I can custom my runs so easily.
Ive used iSmoothrun for almost two years. Love it - except for today. Finished my morning run - went to sync up with Nike plus and No Data. Everything was gone. Fortunately have backed up to Nike plus. If they cant find/fix this bug - should at least have way to recover from Nike+ backup.
Best app for tracking runs and various other activities.
Update: 3ish years later, and this is still 5 stars and still the only running app I use. Best running app on the iPhone hands down - cadence coaching, user laps (!!), shoe mileage, Pebble integration (with a full-on custom Pebble app, so you can trigger laps, pause, and show multiple pages of the huge amount of info iSR knows!), weather/fastest song/more recorded each workout, ghost runs, extreme interval editing, great graphing and calendar view, smart switching betw gps and accelerometer when gps coverage drops, uploading to RunKeeper, MapMy, email, and even up/download backups via Dropbox... Awesome sauce. Bottom line: best running app on the iPhone. Period.
And Ive used them all!
Just bought this and tried to use it for the first time. It tracked nothing on my run and said GPS was unavailable. My 5k app tracked the run just fine though. I bought this because I want to track my elevation gains. Ill keep trying and raise the stars if I can get it to function properly.
Works like a charm. Goes great with my Pebble as well as HRM and stride sensor. The developer is extremely good at responding to queries quickly and helpfully.
I love the app (tried them all by 2016.3), when I stopped on this one. Pebble integration is the winner here. But Id like to report a bug? So, the net pace w/o warmup is waaaay off. It constantly shows 90-98, even though it should be 4-6. Thanks!
Smooth, sleek, quick interface, syncs with most major other apps. Theres nothing not to like. Keeps my friends on every platform informed of my progress. Worth every penny.
I bought this app to plan and run interval runs, which it seems to do well, but it only connects to certain heart rate monitors and brands. My adidas HR monitor is ANT yet the app doesnt recognize it. Nor does it connect to any Garmin devices. I can still use it for voice cues for my interval run, but thats about it. Ismoothrun wont be able to tell me if I am running on pace at all, especially if the GPS signal on my phone cuts out.
The developers did a great job on this app, and continue to do so. Just look at the version history to see that these people care about their product and continue to maintain and update it. The interface is clean and legible, which is obviously especially nice during a run when it is most difficult to read the screen and possibly interact with the interface. Their hardware support is great. Their export options are great. I wish that they could export to Polars sites, but that is purely Polars fault for blocking anyone elses uploads. My current favorite feature is the cadence alerts and support for Bluetooth stride sensors. The app can be set to alert you if your stride gets too long (i.e., your cadence drops too low). Itll duck your music and play a metronome that you can try to match with your stride. It really works to support actively retraining my bad habits. I also love their Pebble integration. (And a bunch of other hardware integration.) This app is clearly a labor of love from the developer, who is clearly both an avid athlete and a power-user geek. Ive tried a bunch of these apps, but this is the best all-in-one running (and other similar exercises) app. And, best of all, you pay for it upfront — none of this trick you into a series of hidden surprise in-app purchases. Instead, it is completely an honest and open transaction. Try them all, but I think youll find this one is the one. (At least for now.)
I live--and run--in a rural, wooded area. Cellphone reception is spotty at best. Ive used MapMyRun and RunKeeper and the lack of coverage meant Id frequently return home after a run to see that the map was *completely* off, sometimes by 10 miles or so in spots. While I can go back and manually edit the days route, its a drag. I was delighted to discover iSmoothrun Pro because its digital magic "fills in" those spots where theres no coverage--and it does it smoothly (ha, the name!) and very accurately. Plus, if I still want to keep in touch with "friends" on RunKeeper, ISR gives me the option of sending the days run to RunKeeper as well. Im an "easy" trail runner (not training for any race, just running for the joy of it) and I like the ability to set different workouts and audio cues (and the ladys voice is *nice* not naggy!). This app lets me run the way I want to and displays accurate results with no fuss on my part. Whats not to like??? (Well, I did ask for the ability to take a photo and have it in my days run data and, while its not there yet, the developer was uber-responsive and says theyll work on getting it in there, too). Thanks, iSmoothRun.
The app drains the battery overnight. It uses geolocation even when not in use at night. Overnight the battery goes from 100% charge to 54% and battery analysis shows iSmoothRun as the culprit. Please fix this bug.
Ive used MapMyRun, Nikes app and several others. iSmooth is the one I stick with. When I find a problem and contact the devs, response is quick as are updates when needed.
This app is awesome and simple to use. The price includes features other apps only provide with a subscription. One thing that is very impressive is the ability to create different types of workouts based on pace, heart rate and intervals, and just plain running. Syncs up with all the popular running and fitness apps as well. I use it mainly for running, biking and hiking. Works great with a hr monitor. Links up with runkeeeper seamlessly. The export data function is great too. No complaints.
Biggest differentiator: easy access and export of my data.
Ive been using map my run for years. Over the past few years he features have become more restricted (unless you pay for an endless subscription) and advertisements have become more pervasive. Ive started running intervals to up my speed but I had a terrible time finding an app that used the GPS to determine interval pace. When I found this app I was very skeptical. There is a nice video on YouTube that reviews the app and some of the best features. Ive really come to like the ability to race my best time on my previous routes. I also export my data to other apps so I dont feel like Im severing all connections with my past or Im permanently tied to this company if down the roads they get bought out and they become just like map my run. The company seems to constantly be improving this app. With that in mind here are a couple of wish list items: I wish they offered a different way to break out the splits in the workout log. Right now the splits are 1 mile. However, 1 min splits are helpful for finding your lactate threshold. I wish they allowed more than 5 heart rate zones. For some training its important to break up zone 4 (some papers call it 4a, 4b, and 4c) to better target a training ride (cycling) hear rate. I would recommend this app to anyone who is a numbers geek when it comes to running.
You dont own a Pebble Watch until you own this app along with it. This is the best app Ive used for running and it works amazing with the dedicated Pebble app! Ill never go for a run without it again.
If you listen to music or podcasts while running, etc, AVOID this app. I have used RunKeeper for years and this app will import your data to RunKeeper, however its very frustrating that it wont play music through my headphones. I did get the music to play once, but it kept cutting out. I cant find any support for this app to ask if I am doing anything wrong.
I dont need to thoroughly explain why this is one of the best running apps because others have already done so (compatibility, one-time purchase with no ads/nags, customization). My qualms are few: first, the interface could use some tweaking. The design theme is decent but there are some sections that seem organized poorly or have overflowing font (e.g. some of the choices on the interface customization page). Secondly, and this is a bigger one: I couldnt get the automatic metronome to work for when cadence drops below a certain number. Hopefully some fixes are issued soon. Otherwise, great app. Its hard to find apps nowadays that arent pushing for more money and subscriptions (Im looking at you, Runkeeper "Pro"...)
